A complete guide to visit Al Quadra Lake

Dubai is the city of the future with its dizzying set of futuristic buildings. But despite all that Dubai has to offer, sometimes you need to get away from it all. Just a short 30-minute drive from the city is the charming man-made oasis, Al Quadra. This green paradise is a great place for camping and picnics. So, drop everything and make your way over to Al Quadra.

Why you should visit Al Qudra Lake

Explore nature’s paradise

Al Qudra Lake is a favorite among locals. And it’s no wonder since the stunning lakes are surrounded by lush greenery. The lake is one of the few places left in Dubai with a healthy wildlife population. Avid bird watchers can rejoice as the lake is home to around 200 species of birds. Even endangered birds, such as the Steppe Eagle and the Asian Houbara, call Al Qudra Lake their home.

Indulge in various fun activities

Go for a stroll around the tranquil lakeside. Besides going for a stroll, there are plenty of things to do. You can take a leisurely bicycle ride around the designated Al Qudra Cycle Track, which goes around the lakes. There are also designated camping spots for those who want to spend a night in the wild deserts of Dubai. If you are feeling hungry, there are plenty of food trucks around the lake offering lip-smackingly good food.

Best time to visit

A good thing about the lake is that it doesn’t have set timings. It is open to the public throughout the day on all days of the week. So, you can visit it anytime you want. But the best time to visit Al Qudra Lake and thoroughly enjoy it is during the winter months when the sun is not scorchingly bright.

How to reach Al Qudra Lake

Al Qudra is located around 10 miles east of Al Maktoum Airport, right along the Al Qudra Road (D63). The lake is easily accessible via Dubai Ail Ain Road or Emirates Road. The best way to get to the lake is by car since there is a bit of off-road driving required. The area is quite easy to find with clear markers on Google Maps and signs leading up to the area. Keep in mind there is no street lighting, so it’s best to leave before it gets dark.
