Richard Serra, one of the most renowned sculptors, has created an installation that sits in the Qatari desert at Zekreet City. Four steel plates, each over fourteen meters high, make up the almost one kilometer-long, breathtaking sculpture in the Brouq Nature Reserve. The plates are arranged along an East-West axis, and two gypsum plateaus are located on either side of two equally spaced escarpments. The four plates are composed of German steel, which was specially chosen for its ability to corrode and develop a variety of colors. According to the artist, the four pillars’ hues change according to the weather, ranging from gray to orange to brown to dark amber. Spend the day here and observe the shades changing in a stunning backdrop.
